Always individually tailored to each experience
Why Equine Therapy?
Research shows positive physical and psychological findings from humans interacting with horses. These include decreased blood pressure and heart rate, lower levels of stress, reduced feelings of tension, anxiety, anger and hostility, as well as increased levels of beta-endorphins, and beneficial feelings of self-esteem, empowerment, patience and trust.
HORSE BEHAVIOR TRAINING
What If I Don't know Anything About Horses?
Not a problem! I will teach you basics to help you gain confidence around horses. I will teach you basic ground manners and rules, grooming, tacking up, behaviors of horses and horse safety. We will work with your confidence level as we get you up and in the saddle. This process allows me to complete a treatment plan based on your first few encounters.
THERAPY AND HORSES
How Will We Use Therapy While With Horses?
Unlike an office setting, Equine Therapy allows me to set goals with clients that they are actively able to accomplish with me present. It allows me to help clients work through fears they may have and then implement the same skills learned in that scenario to help in every day situations. I will also have exercises for clients to do while on horseback which can help lessen the physical symptoms associated with anxiety and depression. This can be gained from simply grooming my horses and advancing to the saddle.
What population is appropriate for Equine Therapy?
While research shows that Equine Therapy is beneficial for the majority of diagnoses, we will complete an intake session to see if this is the best modality for you and together develop a treatment plan that meets your goals. I will always put the integrity of therapy and the well-being of my clients and horses above all else.
